• United Nations meeting votes for boycotts and divestment
  The UN International Conference of Civil Society in Support of ME Peace, held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, voted unanimously on July 13th to adopt the Palestinian civil society's Call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS - see next link, below). Among those voting for the final Plan of Action (which endorsed the BDS Call without reservations) were Machsom Watch and Physicians for Human Rights - Israel, as well as the European Coordinating Committee of NGOs on the Question of Palestine (ECCP).

• UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Higher-Education Teaching Personnel dated 11th November 1997. Note in particular section VII: "Duties and responsibilities of higher education teaching personnel", no. 34.
